Feed Your Soul

With the constant demand of our time and endless distractions, we often tend to forget to take care of ourselves and do things that feed our soul. It is easy to let time slip away and spend our time unwisely. Often times it is either due to a busy schedule, lack of motivation and low energy that we neglect to do these things that bring us joy.

With the way our current state of the world is, everything is instant, fast paced, time consuming, and we forget to set time aside to do little things for ourselves. I know for myself, when I want to do something for myself, there is a feeling of overwhelm because of all the other things that I need to do, I don't have the motivation to do the things that I want to do.

It is so easy for us to do things we have to do, such as our job, cooking, cleaning, etc, but it is so difficult to do things that we want to do, whether it be a hobby, reading, being creative. It is hard to do those things that feed our spirit because those are things we don't have to get done.

It all comes back to keeping a promise, with our jobs, when we have a job, we promise to show up and work and we keep that promise, but when we want to set time aside to do something we love, let's say read for 30 minutes a day, we don’t keep that promise to ourselves. We so easily break promises to ourselves with so many excuses, we don't have time, we are too tired, or we don't feel like it. I know for most people there are times you just don't feel like going to work, but you do anyways because that is a promise you made.

I know it is easy to have a desire to do things that feed our soul and we lack the motivation to do so and instead we spend our time doing useless things such as being on our phones or watching tv. But, it is important that we learn to slowly keep our promises to ourselves, starting small in order to build that trust within ourselves.

Essentially when we do not do those things we desire for whatever reason, breaking that promise to ourselves, we are in a way telling ourselves that we can't trust ourselves. That is starving the soul, starving yourself of joy, connection, trust and growth.

Feeding your soul comes in many forms, it could be doing something you love, being creative, spending time in nature, being with people you love and most importantly, it is about keeping the promise to yourself to actually do those things. It doesn’t have to take a lot of your time or even a lot of your energy, just a small, simple act of putting yourself first to do something that makes you happy. Sending love and light in hopes you take a moment to feed your soul each day.
